Jay Claxton, got his start with Unruly Records as the Record Pool Director, which got him in the door at WERQ FM Baltimore (92Q Jams). After an impressive, initial stint as a DJ from 2am-6am, Jay was put on the #1-rated “Big Phat Morning Show” to do the “Week Day Workout” mix. After peaking in station ratings, he was transitioned to the “5 o’clock Ride” which is still the highest-rated hour at WERQ, and later became the Mix Show Director. Claxton was nominated by the Mix Show Power Summit for the “Afternoon Deejay of The Year Award” in 2004, and in 2005, the “East Coast Deejay of The Year”. In 2009, City Paper voted him the Best Deejay of the Year. He has also been the official face and host of Remy V.S.O.P’s “Voices of The City” initiative, Converse’s “Rock the Mic” Event, and is a brand ambassador for Under Armour apparel.
